Dr. Ignacio R. Matias is a Professor in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at the Public University of Navarra, Spain. He received his MS (1992) and PhD (1996) in electrical and electronic engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He has coauthored more than 200 book chapters, journal and conference papers related to optical fiber sensors. He has received several awards for his work and has participated in many research projects. He has also participated in the organization of several events and has coordinated a couple of special issues in research journal related to fiber optic sensing technologies. He currently serves as associate editor of IEEE Sensors Journal.
